Carnival Fortuna

Some games don’t end when the cards are put away.

A psychological horror comic series

Overview

What starts as a casual game night turns into something far more dangerous.

Carnival Fortuna follows a group of college friends playing a familiar party game: Mafia, when their choices begin to echo somewhere else. A cursed carnival responds to each round, transforming roles into trials and metaphor into consequence.

As the game progresses, the line between play and punishment collapses.

By the time the cards are down, only one of them survives.

And survival comes with a cost.

A Story Told in Rounds

Carnival Fortuna unfolds in parallel:

  • A college apartment, mid–game night

  • A sinister carnival that reacts to each decision

Each role revealed in the game manifests as a supernatural threat. Each round pushes the group closer to an ending no one agreed to play.

The rules are simple.

The consequences are not.

Author's Note

This story is based on a real game of Mafia I played with some band friends back in college.

I even kept some of their names the same, or just slightly changed them, along with their personalities.

The funny part?
My “death” in that game was almost exactly the same as Emmett’s in the first issue.

Someone didn’t vet the clown at the carnival, lol...

I wanted to take that experience and twist it into a brutal horror story. one that explores what happens when people treat dangerous objects like toys, and when games meant to be fun start carrying real consequences.

I hope you enjoy playing along.
